have you ever been told you were taking too long to get ready for a date?

i’ve experienced this a few times in my dating experience and honestly, i find it to be one of the most annoying, inconsiderate, and tasteless things someone could do to you as their date.

i mean seriously! imagine preparing for a romantic evening with your honey — you’ve found a stunning outfit, put on some good music, took a lovely shower — just in your own world, taking your time, being present and enjoying the experience.

then all of a sudden, you’re interrupted with:

“are you almost ready?” “we’ll need to get going soon”, “it’s about a 15min drive to the restaurant”, “are you sure you’ll be ready in time?” and then once he get’s tired of lingering, “i’ll just wait by the door.”

like babe, you cannot rush my pretty. you knew i was beautiful when you first laid eyes on me. surely you knew that the preparation process was not a 20min quick fix, right? … right?

for context, the times when i experienced this were during relationships when we were at a point where i was comfortable being in his living space.

looking back, that comfort ended up turning into annoyance. and i’ve noticed that when this happens, i begin to withdraw and tune further into self-preservation mode.

because one thing i do not like is being rushed and pressured. i view it as a sign of poor planning and preparation and it’s a huge turn off.

i learned from my grandmother at a very young age that beauty takes time and i now have a deeper understanding of what this means. for me, it means nurturing your feminine energy with things that enhance it the most — time, patience, preparation, and engaging in what’s most fulfilling to the soul.

don’t allow anyone to rush you, babe. beauty, love and romance are best enjoyed when there’s actually time to do so. take your time, plan accordingly and make the appropriate changes as you see fit.

because it truly takes time for you to be that pretty — every time.
